Disclosure: This guide is published by Pure Blue, a supplement seller. It does not establish a hormone-treatment benefit for our products.
βBalances hormonesβ is too broad to assess without naming the hormone, the people studied and the outcome. A change in an NAD-related measurement, a urinary hormone ratio and relief of a symptom are different findings. None should be silently substituted for another.
Start with the actual compound
The NIH niacin fact sheet describes niacin forms and their conversion to the coenzyme NAD. That biochemical role does not show that a particular capsule treats low testosterone or menopause symptoms. Record the full ingredient names and amounts on the current label; βNAD boosterβ is not a complete formula.
What two human reports actually examined
A 2023 systematic review examined nicotinic acid and nicotinamide, with 22 treatment arms and 5,144 participants. Pooled results showed lower BMI and higher adiponectin, but no significant change in body weight or leptin. Those are specific metabolic outcomes, not evidence that every NAD precursor or finished blend changes sex hormones.
A May 13, 2026 pilot gave a combination of nicotinamide riboside and pterostilbene to 40 women for seven days. Thirty-two reported menopause-transition symptoms. In that subgroup, some symptom ratings improved from baseline and the urinary estradiol-to-estrone ratio increased. The study was open-label, with no placebo group. It cannot separate treatment effects from expectation or other changes, isolate either ingredient, or establish a lasting clinical benefit. A urinary ratio is not proof that a person's overall estrogen status has been normalized.
Separate a care question from a supplement claim
The Endocrine Societyβs 2018 guideline for men links a hypogonadism diagnosis to appropriate symptoms and consistently low testosterone measurements. It also recommends against routine screening of the general male population. This is not a reason for every tired person to order a panel or start a supplement.
If symptoms concern you, ask your clinician which causes and tests are relevant to your history, what a result would change and which treatment options fit your goals. Do not delay needed care to complete a supplement trial or a diary.
A practical evidence-and-label note
- Exact formula and route; the product and label version.
- Specific hormone or symptom being claimed.
- Study population, comparator and measurement method.
- Duration, uncertainty and whether the finished formula was tested.
- Your medicines and questions for a pharmacist.
Our NAD measurement guide and ingredient-review checklist help organize that discussion. Neither a label nor a short pilot establishes individual safety, hormone normalization or a reason to change prescribed treatment.
