A supplement purity claim is useful only when you can identify what was measured. β€œLab tested” does not tell you whether a laboratory checked ingredient identity, ingredient amount, selected contaminants or something else. Begin with the claim and the document behind it, rather than treating a seal as a general verdict.

Disclosure: Pure Blue sells supplements and publishes this buyer guide. This article does not establish that any Pure Blue product has a particular certification, testing program or available COA. Verify an exact product's current documentation.

Manufacturing duties and FDA approval are different

FDA describes manufacturers' and distributors' responsibilities for supplement safety and explains that FDA does not test supplements before consumer sale. That does not mean nobody checks products before release. It means sale is not evidence that FDA tested or approved the bottle.

A facility claim, a product test report and a product certification answer different questions. Do not turn a statement about a manufacturer into a claim that every product and every batch has passed the same independent assessment.

Name the measurement

Documented check Question it addresses What it does not establish
Identity Does the tested sample match the specified ingredient? The amount of every ingredient or clinical benefit
Assay or potency How much of the specified substance was measured? Absorption, effectiveness or an appropriate personal dose
Selected contaminants What were the results for the named analytes and limits? Absence of every possible contaminant
Certification Does the exact listed product meet the named program's requirements? Government approval or suitability for every user

These distinctions are a way to read a report, not a claim that every laboratory uses the same panel. Raw-ingredient testing and finished-product testing also describe different samples.

Make one traceable report record

Record the product name, formulation, package lot, report identifier, laboratory, sample description, relevant dates and each test's method, result, unit and acceptance limit. Our COA matching guide expands that record.

If a report says β€œnot detected,” look for the method's detection or reporting limit; do not translate it into absolute zero. If it says β€œpass,” ask which specification it passed. If the report lacks a lot match, preserve that uncertainty instead of attaching it to your package. A report from an ingredient supplier does not automatically document the finished formula.

A laboratory result describes the submitted sample within the method's limits. Whether it supports a wider batch claim depends on sampling and other quality controls. The document alone cannot tell you that every bottle or a later lot has identical contents.

Check a certification in its own program

NSF describes its supplement certification as including label-claim, toxicology and contaminant reviews, with ongoing testing and audits. Its sport program adds screening for banned substances. Do not assume every unrelated certification program has the same requirements.

Use the certifier's own listing and compare the exact product and certification scope. A brand logo, a facility listing or another product's certificate is not an exact match. If an entry cannot be found, mark the claim unverified and ask for clarification; that alone does not prove fraud. Athletes can also use our sport-risk guide for product-specific questions.

Separate documentation from a buying decision

A test or certificate does not show that a formula improves energy, longevity or β€œdetox.” That requires evidence addressing the claimed outcome. It also does not resolve interactions or suitability for an individual. A clinician or pharmacist needs the complete current formula and personal medicine context.

For a commercial formula reference, open the regular Quantum Vitality NAD+ Booster+ Detox listing. Compare the listing and package, then request the particular document needed to evaluate a specific claim. This link is not certification or evidence of a health benefit. If testing cost matters, request a quote for the actual sample and panel rather than relying on a generic price range.
